The history of Black Horse Inn

The beautiful Black Horse Inn has a long history behind. Originally built in the 1850s (with some of the parts of the mansion added in the 1900s), the building still preserves many of its pre-Civil War features. There’s an overwhelming feeling of timeless comfort hovering over the entire place that makes it perfect for weddings and other special events in people’s lives.

Recently restored, the nowadays’ Black Horse Inn features ten beautiful rooms, each with its own private bathroom. Jacuzzi bathtubs, canopy beds and many other great additions were made to ensure 100% comfort for our guests.

As for the name of our wedding venue, it is inspired by the Black Horse Cavalry, one of the most important local companies that fought in the Civil War. The Black Horse Cavalry won the First Battle of Manassas against the Union forces and it later on served as bodyguard for General Stonewall Jackson and for Joseph E. Johnston. Even more than that, many of the man in the Black Horse served as very important leaders of the Commonwealth following the Civil War as well.

Aside from the wonderful story behind our inn, there are many other reasons to absolutely love it:

  • We pride ourselves to bring together the comfort of a marvelous country setting and the elegance of a time when the belles and beaux of Virginia gracefully danced their way into love.
  • Our inn is surrounded by splendid landscapes. The beautiful boxwood gardens, the ample porches and the abundant wildlife will definitely make for the best wedding pictures ever!
  • We serve our breakfast in an idyllic setting, either in the main dining room or on the beautiful porch.
  • As for your event, we will be more than happy to arrange catering services to suit your taste, your wedding theme and your preferences as well.
